Project 365 - Day 127 - Goodyear

I had an appointment to get my oil changed at Goodyear this morning. After we dropped the car off, we ate lunch and walked around the shopping center. After we couldn't kill anymore time, we headed back and waited in at Goodyear. The picture on the left is was my view sitting down. The rest of the place was kind of disorganized and dirty looking so this was the best I could do. Anyway, it took them almost 3 hours to change the oil and do a courtesy check! Next time, I think we'll go to Sears.

Project 365 - Day 126 - Pepsi vs. Coke

The internet is soooo slow tonight! I've noticed that when the weather is not too good (windy or rainy) the internet slows down a lot. Very weird.
Anyway, today I read a whole article on abcnews.com about how the Obama administration prefers Coke to Pepsi. What's up with that?!? They were talking about how all the officials are always walking around with Diet Coke in their hands and at meetings they stock Diet Coke. I am a Pepsi person. I don't discriminate against Coke, it that's what's available I'll drink it, but I prefer Pepsi.
In any case, I thought it was hilarious that they found time to write a whole article on Pepsi vs. Coke. Guess it was a slow news day.

Project 365 - Day 125 - New Skin

Today was a normal day at work. Except that I had to walk up and down stairs a lot and move some heavy boxes looking for files. So, I actually got a lot of exercise today, which is good.
Anyway, so I bought this new "bandage" at Wal-Mart the other day because I've been a klutz a lot recently and been getting cuts. Band-aids and me don't get along. They either fall off too early or the stick too well and I get a rash from where the band-aid was. So, I after hearing about it, I decided to try this New Skin.
I had a cut on my thumb so I applied the new skin and it stung like crazy! Then it seemed like it wasn't actually sealing the cut because it would still bleed a little and the blood would wipe off. But after I applied a couple of coats it was okay. The next morning though, the new skin was already starting to peel at the edges. So with that said, I don't recommend you try this at home.

Project 365 - Day 124 - Cattle Company

One of my friends from church celebrated a birthday on Sunday, so today, we took her out to a surprise dinner at the Cattle Company. We pulled it off and she was totally surprised!
I had the Rib Eye steak as you can see. It was very delicious and a really big portion. I also had garlic mashed potatoes which were amazing!
Tonight when I came home, I noticed that there was a little baby fish floating around in the tank. My brother saw it too but now I can't find it. :( Oh well, I think it wasn't alive anyway. But that's so neat! I want to try breed the fish now.

Project 365 - Day 123 - Lau Lau

Tonight we ate lau lau for dinner. Mmm...lau lau is my favorite food! When I was a kid I used to hate eating lau lau. I thought it was like eating grass so I never tried it. Then about a year ago, I don't know how or why but I tried it and I LOVED IT! Now I love to eat it lau lau all the time.
Next step is to learn how to make it...

Project 365 - Day 122 - New Water Bottle

While my Dad was at Costco today, he picked me up a nifty new water bottle. :)
In my efforts to be more healthy and not get kidney stones (which I recently learned is from not drinking enough water), I will be trying my best to drink more water. It should make it a little more fun now that I have this cool container. Plus it's more environmental friendly.
At work we just have styrofoam cups (that's supposed to be for the coffee, but I use it for water cause I don't drink coffee). I will feel better now, knowing that I am not destroying the world by drinking water. :)

Project 365 - Day 121 - Battlestar Galactica

I just finished watching the first disc of Battlestar Galactica the Mini Series. A co-worker was talking about it and said it was a great show. I was skeptical at first, but since she had the DVD's I said I would watch the first one and see how it went.
This first disc was about 3 hours long and it ran continuously, so it wasn't short tv style episodes. I was a little confused at first, but after a while, I really got into it. I totally thought it was going to be kinda dorky but it had a good plot to it and I'm excited to see what happens next.

Project 365 - Day 120 - Slumdog Millionaire

Today, a friend and I went to go see Slumdog Millionaire. I've been hearing rave reviews about it from people I know, as well as from all the hype from the Oscar's.
I thought it was a pretty good movie. It had a good story line and flow. I thought it was awesome that they used real kids from the slums of Mumbai to film.
If nothing else, this movie gave me a greater appreciation of how others in the world are living and how I have to be thankful that I live in the US.

Project 365 - Day 119 - Tsukiji Restaurant

Today was my Grandma's 91st birthday! So we celebrated by going out to dinner at Tsukiji Fish Market & Restaurant at Ala Moana Shopping Center.
It's a buffet with all kinds of Japanese and a little bit of local food. As you can see from the picture, I had a shrimp tempura udon, vegetable croquette, cone sushi, and more shrimp tempura with string bean tempura. The food is not too shabby and it's very filling. Oh yeah and I also had jello (in assorted flavors) for dessert. Mmmm...jello....

Project 365 - Day 117 - Facing the Giants

Ok, so I kinda cheated today and took a picture with my phone of a movie while it was playing.

Anyway, today's picture is from the movie Facing the Giants. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. It's a movie about having faith and trusting in God and it's a football movie so the guys will like it too. :)

Project 365 - Day 116 - Piano Picker

"This is me, playing the piano. I hope you like what I do, it's for you and I'll try and sing right too."

Hahaha...that's from a song called Piano Picker by The Carpenter's. When I was a kid, my parent always used to play The Carpenter's record whenever we would get the ol' record player out and I LOVED this song! But after two and a half years of piano lessons, I can only play like 1.5 songs. Our piano usually only gets uncovered once a year when the piano tuner man comes. I think I will try and play more than once a year now, because I really am fortunate to have a piano and I should make use of it.

Project 365 - Day 115 - Kahuku Public Library

The Kahuku Public Library isn't open on the weekends so we had to plan a special after work excursion to the library. It took us about 45 minutes to drive there.
I hate to say it, but this library smelled funky. They did have a nice, inviting children's section though. Considering that Tuesday's are the only days they open past 5PM, it was really quiet and empty. The school gym nearby was pretty busy, with lots of kids hanging out and lots of cars coming and going.

Project 365 - Day 114 - Marukai

We went to the Marukai market today at Ward. It was very interesting cause they have so much stuff that's imported from Japan. Besides the normal stuff like Pocky and Japanese sports drinks, I also saw black q-tips and a 10lb. bag of rice for $65! Weird.
The pictures above are of the sign when you go in and the dried fish case just inside. I was so caught up in the sights that I forgot to take pictures inside.
Oh yeah and Happy President's Day! Hooray for paid holidays!

Project 35 - Day 113 - Breakfast at Denny's

We went for breakfast at Denny's this morning. The food was really good but I didn't like that everything was sticky! Yuck! Afterwards, we walked around for a bit at the Town Center to digest our food and look at the cute puppies at the pet store.
When we got home, I watched a little Battlestar Gallactica (recommended by a friend) and took a really really long nap.
That's about it for today. Hopefully I will make tomorrow a little more productive. Hooray for Holidays!

Project 365 - Day 112 - Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day! Today we drove all the way out to Haleiwa to eat some Giovanni's shrimp for our Valentine's Day date. I haven't had it in a while and it is still very very good! I ate the whole plate! It comes with two scoops of rice and 12 pieces of garlic shrimp for $12. Well worth it.
After that, we went to Baskin' Robbins and ate sundaes for dessert. The rest of the day we spent lounging around the house, just relaxing. It was an awesome day.

Project 365 - Day 111 - Pets R Us

The dogs were out of their wet food so we went out to Pets R Us at the Town Center to buy some. They had so many cute puppies for sale and we looked around for a bit at all the neat leashes and collars that they had. But finally we got around to picking them up a couple of cans of Eukanuba food, a rope toy and a couple of soft Nylabone bones. We've haven't gotten this for them in such a long time that we thought they might have forgotten what to do with it. But sure enough, they remembered. It was really cute to watch them be dogs and chew bones. Our boys are so sheltered. :)

Project 365 - Day 110 - Shinchan

Got this DVD for Christmas from my friend but didn't get to watch it till tonight. We went to her house to hang out for a bit and play with her son. Then we watched some Shinchan. It used to be called Crayon Shinchan and it was subtitled because they spoke Japanese. But now, they speak in English and it's just not the same anymore. I think they must have changed to show but kept the same characters.
Anyway, it was a really weird, silly show and I was having a hard time following what was going on. But then again, I wasn't paying much attention either. Maybe I'll try watch it later.

Project 365 - Day 109 - Kinau Street

I had a class in town today and while I was stuck sitting in traffic, I noticed an unusual sight. A gigantic pile of trash on the side of the road. It was even piled next to a one way sign so you can see the scale of the trash. And to make it even more interesting, there was a bright green house right behind it. I d0n't go into town much so these things intrigue me.

Project 365 - Day 108 - A Million Bucks by 30

I just finished reading a book the other day called "A Million Bucks by 30" by Alan Corey. This is a true story about this guy who had a goal to make a million dollars before he was 30, and he did it...when he was 28!

His story was inspiring because he did it not by winning a lottery (although he did have some lucky breaks in real estate going up) but by being extremely frugal and watching every penny. He even lived on a $2.50 a day food budget! I guess people really can live on eating instant ramen for lunch everyday for 2 months.

Project 365 - Day 107 - Credit Report

In my effort to be more financially responsible, I went online and requested one of my three free credit reports from annualcreditreport.com. These are free to everyone because the law requires three different agencies to give you a free credit report each year. I just chose to get one at this time so that I can use the others periodically through the year and not have to pay.
Anyway, it was a good thing I did check my credit report because I found some discrepancies! It wasn't actually credit mistakes, but mistakes about my personal info, like date of birth and previous addresses. So I filed a dispute and hopefully that will get cleared up. But I'm very glad that I did it now, rather than find out later when it really matters.

Project 365 - Day 106 - See's Candies

Kelly Boy Delima from Kapena came to church today to give his testimony and play a couple songs. It was really good.
After church we headed over to Pearlridge to buy some birthday presents. We stopped at See's Candies first and got a free sample and a piece of candy each. I had the Pecan Royal and it was amazing!
Then when I came home I worked on my taxes, so it's finally filed! Yay! I really do not like this time of year. I always think to myself, I wish I kept my files better so I wouldn't have to hunt around for information. I guess this is something I have to remember now, for next years taxes.

Project 365 - Day 105 - Aina Haina Library/Sorabol

Today we took the Grandma's out for lunch. We went to Sorabol near Ala Moana. They have pretty awesome Korean food, but it's a bit pricey. We went for lunch so it wasn't that expensive.
Then we headed over to Shirokiya to walk off the food we ate and to look around some. It was the Sapporo festival at Shirokiya so they had lots of interesting food.
We also headed over to Aina Haina Library for my fourth library visited this year. It was a nice, quiet library but they didn't have too many of the authors that I like to read.

Project 365 - Day 104 - Pedometer

Today a lady from the American Diabetes Association came down to kick off our Step Out to Fight Diabetes thing at work. It was very scary to hear about it, because anyone can get diabetes, even if you are considered low risk now.
I won a nifty little pedometer! We are having an informal, friendly competition at work to see if we can walk 10,000 steps a day. I think this will be my way of fulfilling my new years resolution of losing weight. :)

Project 365 - Day 103 - My Fav. Dinner

This is my favorite home-made dinner. Corned-beef hash patties, mmm!

Today was a pretty long day, I had a class on Workplace Violence near the airport. It was interesting, but kinda scary cause you never know who will snap one day. There are warning signs, but honestly you can't really tell.

When I was driving in to the class, I saw a bunch of cops pulling people over for driving in the shoulder lane. It was weird because I usually drive in the shoulder lane when it gets close to the exit just to save time, but today something was just telling me to be patient and wait. So luckily I wasn't driving there and I didn't get a ticket. So thank the Lord for that!

Project 365 - Day 102 - Dilbert

The picture is a little blurry but I thought today's Dilbert comic was funny. If you would like to read it, you can enlarge it.

Today was a regular day. Went to work, then small group, then ate dinner at Arby's and went to pick up products.

Project 365 - Day 101 - Run BJ Run!

Yes, I took a picture of my computer screen for today, but only because this was amazing story! I heard on the news tonight about Brian (B.J.) Van Beusekom, a 30 year-old man from Minnesota who ran for 80 miles for 24 hours straight! If you would like to read more on the story, click here.
I was very inspired by this, being that I can't even run for 5 minutes straight. :) Then tonight, Forrest Gump was playing on two different HBO channels, one after another, so I caught the end where he's running and then got to watch the beginning!
I think this is a sign that I have to continue in my efforts of learning how to run.

Project 365 - Day 100 - Dragon Keepers Chronicles Series

Whew! We hit a milestone...it's Day 100! It has been difficult taking a picture everyday and blogging everyday, but I'm still going.
So, I am now into a new series of books by Donita K. Paul. The first book was Dragonspell and now I'm reading the second book, Dragonquest. I think it's made for kids, but it's a Christian author who blends in her faith with this fiction/fantasy series. It's amazing! Although I am only on the second book out of five books, I am really enjoying reading it.

Project 365 - Day 99 - Resolution Update #1

So...I learned that my phone is actually not acting up, it's a feature called screen shot where I can take a picture of the screen on my phone.
For today, I decided to recap on my New Year's Resolutions. As you can see, I do still have it saved in my phone and it even counts the days since I last edited it which was Jan. 1st. It's been 32 days! So, I've kept #1 and I'm doing pretty well with it and I've worked a bit on #5. The others...not so good. I'm certainly failing at #2, but that will change! I believe it's not a broken New Year's resolution until you give up or the next new year comes around.
Here we go for Round 2!
